The Queen, the Lover, and the Night

In the black of the night

she reigned , the Queen of Hearts

Giving everything to her love

knowing he would be gone

with the dawn of first light

She shrouded herself in the pitch

the darkness itself awakening her senses

For she knew that is where she would find him

waiting there to take sustenance from her

From her heart which bled for him and him alone

In the midnight hour there were no prying eyes

No one to witness the forbidden  love between them

She exalted the murky covering and cursed the blue sky

for it was the morn that brought the sadness

and put an end to her reign as his Queen of Hearts
