The Invitation

You are cordially invited

to my macabre ball

No need to wear a mask

or paint on an insincere smile

The pain on your face

will not be shunned here

but will be celebrated

as your true beauty

Wine will flow

not to lift your spirits

but to let you drown

in your sorrows

Don your blackest dress

wear the armor

you use to shield yourself

This is a come as you are

type of affair

Only the saddest songs will play

lingering notes of despair

Dance all night

with your darkest thoughts

spinning so hard that you fall

It is a never-ending party

You can stay as long as you like

here at my macabre ball
